Peasedown Stakeholders’ Meeting held to address parking and public transport at local Business Park

A special meeting has been held on the Bath Business Park (Peasedown St John) to discuss a huge range of issues from parking to public transport.

Representatives from almost 20 organisations attended, all with the aim of coming up with a range of solutions to address the ongoing concerns that business leaders have raised with local councillors over the last six months.

Organised by Cllr Karen Walker (Independent, Peasedown), the Stakeholders’ Meeting was the first of its kind in Peasedown St John. She said:

“When I visited Sulis Hospital earlier this year one of the top issues that the Director and fellow staff raised was the lack of available parking for staff and visitors.

As well as this, there have been growing concerns that local bus services don’t stop in the Bath Business Park outside of the hospital, despite there being a bus stop, with shelter, in situ.”

At the recent meeting, the following organisations were represented:

–        Bath & North East Somerset Council
–        First Bus
–        Hartwells (Bath Business Park       landowners)
–        Bath Audi
–        Marlin Communications
–        Sulis Hospital
–        Mercedes Benz

Cllr Gavin Heathcote (Independent, Peasedown) added:

“We’re grateful to everyone who attended last week’s meeting from B&NES Council Cabinet Members to managers at First Bus, and from Sulis Hospital Directors to representatives from Hartwells, the organisation that owns the land.”

Moving forward, the Stakeholders Meeting agreed that several working groups would be set up to look at ensuring the parking problems on the Bath Business Park could be resolved and that visitors and staff on the park have adequate access to public transport.

Karen and Gavin concluded: “We’re grateful to everyone who attended the recent meeting. We’re keen to work with as many local businesses and organisations as possible to find viable solutions to the issues being experienced on the Bath Business Park.”

Cllr Karen Walker will convene another meeting of stakeholders in two months’ time.
