Children at Peasedown St John Primary School had a busy week recently celebrating Harvest at a range of events around the community.
In total, the school’s 400 pupils packed out three Harvest Festivals over a 5-day period.
School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said:
“The theme for this year’s Harvest Festivals was sharing, fairness and kindness, and also for giving thanks for the food and shelter many of us have.
What made this year’s celebrations extra special was that we held three Harvest festivals in three different locations.”
Pre-school and Reception aged children held their service in the school hall.
Year 1 and Year 2 pupils held their service at the Methodist Church and Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 held their service in St John’s Church.
All classes learnt and recited a harvest-themed poem and the children sang some harvest classics. One song included Makaton sign language and Year 1 and Reception children also made harvest crowns to wear during the services
“Over the course of the week, children also brought donations to school for The Nest Project,” added Ruth, “The initiative wants every child to have the best start in life possible. They provide free children’s clothing and equipment to families experiencing financial hardship in BANES, as well as providing support and guidance to parents and carers.”
