Children at Peasedown St John Primary School made a special visit to Westminster, London, recently to visit the Houses of Parliament.
Pupils from Year 6 took time out from their regular studies to spend a full day at the home of British democracy.
School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said:

“Year 6 were privileged to visit the Houses of Parliament recently. It was an incredible experience. We were able to enter the House of Commons, the House of Lords and Westminster Hall.
We’re very grateful to the staff in Parliament for making us feel so welcome and showing us around. It was a memorable experience that will remain with our pupils for a very long time.”
Highlights of the trip included: Queen Victoria’s throne, the chamber below which Guy Fawkes placed his gunpowder, the statue that Emmeline Pankhurst chained herself to and a surprise visit from Anna Sabine, our local MP. They were able to ask her questions pertinent to our local school and area such as how she can help us secure more safe and fun spaces for young people to hang out.

“It was a truly wonderful experience, and the students represented the school superbly”, added Ruth, “listening attentively, asking thoughtful questions and behaving respectfully at all times. Since then, the children haven’t stopped talking about it!”
The trip was one of many excursions organised this year for pupils at Peasedown St John Primary School. Others throughout 2026 have included the Victoria Art Gallery, Bordeaux in France and Bristol Hindu Temple.
