People living in Midsomer Norton and the surrounding towns and villages are being given the opportunity to find out more about how to look after their vehicles, thanks to a new one-day car maintenance course.
Local auto enthusiasts, repair specialists and car sales professionals, JB Autos have launched the course so people can better understand how their vehicle’s engine works – and how to maintain it!
Course coordinator, Andre Berry, said:
“Most UK drivers face at least one unexpected repair each year, averaging at least £650 according to the RAC. This practical, hands-on course shows you how to prevent issues before they become expensive problems. A small investment in knowledge can save hundreds of pounds in your first year alone.”
Drivers who take part in the monthly course can expect to gain knowledge about:
- Warning lights
- Dashboard basics
- Essential vehicle fluids
- Tyre health
- What to keep in your boot for emergencies
- Tyre lifespan and replacement
- Brake pad wear indicators
- Oil change intervals
- Seasonal care tips
- Breakdown prevention strategies
- Engine overheating causes and solutions
- Blown tyre procedures
- Dashboard warning lights
- Safe breakdown procedures
Last week, Nathan Hartley – Project Manager for Midsomer Norton’s Community Connectors initiative – was invited to the JB Autos workshop in Radstock Road to find out more about what the new community-based course is all about. He said:
“JB Autos has been a trusted part of our community for decades. Originally founded by John Bowness in 1985 as a sole trader at Stones Cross, the business became officially registered in 1990. From the beginning, JB Autos built its reputation on honesty, quality workmanship, and genuine care for customers.
Adding this new monthly course to their range of services offered to the community, only adds to their positive reputation locally.”
