Funding Boost for Midsomer Norton Men’s Shed

A popular local group for men has received a funding boost thanks to the organisation, Midsomer Norton Community Connectors.

Midsomer Norton Men’s Shed meets twice-a-week and is designed to support men who need help with their mental health, who are battling with depression, or who just need someone to talk to.

Earlier in the summer, the organisation applied to Community Connectors for a grant to aid their invaluable work.

Nathan Hartley, Community Connectors Project Manager said:

“We were delighted to be able to award a grant of £170 to the Midsomer Norton Men’s Shed from our first grant fund. The Men’s Shed provides an invaluable space for men to get together on a regular basis to chat and connect with others whilst participating in group or individual projects. It provides the space, expertise and facilities for men to pursue hobbies, crafts and other creative activities.”

Nathan recently visited the group to present them (pictured) with their cheque, to meet members and to find out more about what they do. The £170 grant has been used to purchase a blade sharpener which enables the Shed to sharpen their own blades, instead of buying new every time a blade becomes dull.

Midsomer Norton Men’s Shed meets on Tuesday and Friday mornings in the Big Barn behind Farrington Farm Shop.
