Dial a Ride charity praised for exceptional community service over last 20 years

A charity that has gone above-and-beyond to serve our local community has been praised for its exceptional community service – which has spanned more than 20 years.

Dial-a-Ride offers a pre-booked door-to-door transport service, using vehicles specially adapted for wheelchair passengers and improved accessibility. Since 2004, the organisation has supported thousands of local people to access healthcare services, trips to the local shops and opportunities to visit local amenities.

Just recently, Nathan Hartley, Project Manager for the organisation Midsomer Norton Community Connectors, went to meet the team behind the charity at their town centre office.

Nathan said: “Dial a Ride supports some of our area’s most vulnerable and isolated people, many of which would struggle to access key services without their support.

With more than 400 people currently registered to receive their door-to-door pick up service, they’re providing a lifeline far beyond what many of us realise.”

Nathan met with Kristian Smalley, Dial a Ride Manager and Coordinator who plays a key role in ensuring that the hundreds of people they support each week can get to their appointments and essential services on time.

Midsomer Norton Dial a Ride currently operates across the whole of the southern part of Bath and North East Somerset, from Hinton Charterhouse to Nempnett Thrubwell and from Paulton to Norton Marlreward.

The charity is funded through grants and donations. For more information check out their website: https://msndar.travelsites.uk
