Pupils from Peasedown St John Primary School have taken part in a special ‘Spy Day’ to better understand and the live the life of a character in a book they’re reading.
To coincide with the launch of introducing Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz to the list of books being studied this term, Year 6 pupils spent a day learning how to be spies.
School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said:

“They did code breaking, crime scene deduction, gadget design and spy agility.
Part of our curriculum here at Peasedown St John Primary School is to really understand the stories and characters in books by acting them out.
And what better book to act out than Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz?!
Through a series of events, the key character Alex Rider is forced to take over his uncle’s secret spy mission and go undercover to investigate Sayle, an evil computer genius. Sayle has developed a revolutionary computer called Stormbreaker that he wants to donate to every British school but Sayle is hiding something and Alex must uncover the truth.
It certainly is a must read for anyone of any age!”

As part of an enhanced English curriculum, Peasedown St John Primary School recognises that the ability to read, both for information gathering and for pleasure, is the fundamental key that unlocks life-long learning. Alongside daily guided reading, each class has story time read by the teacher. This encourages book talk based around the key concepts of reading.
