Peasedown Primary School pupils go on special trip to Bath’s Egg Theatre

Children from Peasedown St John Primary School have taken part in a special trip – to the award-winning Egg Theatre in Bath.

Pupils from Gold Class were given the opportunity for an afternoon out to watch a performance of Sandscapes – a silent piece of theatre around the sensory and playful experience of sand.

School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said:

“It was captivating and a real visual and auditory feast! Towards the end of the performance, the children were invited up onto the stage to play with the sand themselves and got to take a bow with the performers.

All those that went said they had a fantastic time at the theatre and can’t wait to go again. I’m incredibly grateful to the team at The Egg Theatre for making our school pupils and staff feel so welcome when they visited.”

Since it opened in 2005, The Egg Theatre (located next to the Theatre Royal) has provided a unique venue for children’s, young people’s and family theatre, and become a nationally recognised hub for exceptional outreach work with young people, community groups, schools, universities and colleges across the country.

“Children in Peasedown St John Primary School’s Gold Class need additional support with learning and dealing with social situations,” added Ruth, “so the silent and sensory presentation of the performance at The Egg really helped their educational learning.”
