Over 2,000 people pack-out Peasedown’s Party in the Park Festival

Over 2,000 people packed out Peasedown’s Party in the Park summer festival last Saturday – despite the rain!

It was the event’s 16th anniversary!

Sponsored by St John’s Church, Curo, Radfield Home Care, Bath College and Bath & North East Somerset Council, festival revellers came along to enjoy over seven hours of live music and entertainment.

The event included an array of stalls and attractions, a dog show, hot food, and the return of the Peasedown Diamond cider.

Peasedown St John’s local councillors Karen Walker and Gavin Heathcote (Independents) said:

“Thank you to everyone who came along to support this year’s Party in the Park festival. It’s been fantastic to see the event grow over the last 16 years. From a humble village fete to a festival with over 2,000 people – we couldn’t have done it without the support of the local community.

As a village we certainly showed what we can do when we come together and work for a common goal!”

Main stage performances included: Peasedown St John Primary School Children; Cult of the Velvet Rattlesnake, The Lone Sharks, Keith Horler, Eleanor Lear, Obsidian Cheer and Dance, Sebastian & Me and The Clayton Denwood Band.

The stage and entertainment line-up this year was managed by Reaper Events and Radio Bath.

The Peasedown St John Community Civic Award was presented to a man who spent over two decades helping to keep the village looking clean and tidy.

Karen and Gavin said:

“Thank you to everyone who sent in nominations for this year’s Peasedown St John Community Civic Award!

This year we were hugely impressed with the nominations for Chris Champion who, for the last 25 years, has helped keep our village clean.

Every week he would spend many hours emptying litter bins, picking up litter and generally making sure that the public realm looked tidy and presentable.

Known to many, and often seen driving around in the Parish Council’s van, he spent over two decades working diligently and with dedication to make sure that Peasedown St John was clean, aesthetically pleasing – and a welcoming place for those who lived, worked and visited here.

Having recently retired from the Parish Council after decades of service, this is our way of – publicly – thanking him for all he has done.

Thank you, Chris for everything you’ve do for our community. This award is for you!”

Peasedown Party in the Park was held on Saturday 14th June on Beacon Field, Peasedown St John.
