Some of the most popular and successful entertainment acts in the region will be performing at this year’s 16th anniversary Party in the Park festival in Peasedown St John on Saturday 14th June.
Since last September bands have been applying to perform – meaning that some of the stage line-up has been in place since the beginning of the year.
Party in the Park sets aside a budget of over £1,500 each year to cover the costs of PA technical support and stage hire.
The festival is organised by the village’s local councillors, Cllr Karen Walker and Cllr Gavin Heathcote (Independents), who said:
“A very large proportion of our festival budget goes on entertainment and all the costs we legally have to spend in connection with it.
Without the support of our major sponsors this year, we really would have struggled to put on the spectacular Summer Festival we have planned. In total, we received over 25 enquires from performers wanting to appear on our Main Stage this year – one of the most popular years ever!”
This year’s festival sponsors are: St John’s Church, Bath College, Radfield Home Care, Curo and Bath & North East Somerset Council.
Party in the Park has teamed up with Radio Bath and Reaper Events for the event. Radio Bath has organised the line up of performances, and Reaper Events are providing the staging, lighting and sound equipment on the day.
Loraine Morgan-Brinkhurst MBE, Radio Bath director co-founder, said:
“Peasedown Party in the Park is hugely popular not just locally, but across the region. This is why our team here at Radio Bath love to support it each year.
It’s great to see public events like this happening across Bath & North East Somerset, they are great for bringing family and friends together.”
The festival is expected to see over 2,500 people come through its gates on June 14th – in part to celebrate the event’s 16th anniversary!
Performing at this year’s festival are:
The Cult of the Velvet Rattlesnake
Get ready to sweat, ‘cause the Cult of the Velvet Rattlesnake are ready to blow your minds with their brand of jaw-dropping electric blues. They take iconic pop songs and strip them bare before drenching them in the filthiest, swampiest blues you’ll ever hear. When the Rattlesnakes take to the stage, they bring a dynamic twist of raw emotion and sultry sounds. They’ll stir your soul in ways you never thought possible!
Peasedown St John Primary School Children
Children from the local primary school will perform a number of songs – they have been practising for weeks so we’re looking forward to having them with us.
The Lone Sharks
The Lone Sharks, South West’s pop-punk kings, have been mixing energy and intelligent melodies since 2007. Their grown-up rock for all ages has garnered a reputation for tight, sharp and powerful live performances playing gigs across the country with bands including: The Godfathers; Channel 3; Agent Orange; The Cute Lepers; The Lurkers; Penetration; 999; UK Subs; The Vibrators and Thee Faction.
Kerosene Grace
A Bath based band that was formed 10 years ago who all have a mutual love for music and individual knew each other and came together.
They write their own songs and have performed at Peasedown Party in the Park before. Their authentic approach is always loved by the crowd and we can’t wait to have them back.
Keith Horler
Keith is a talented Singer-Songwriter from Radstock. He records and performs his own songs. His albums include The Otherside and 60’s Kid, both recorded at Western Star Studios.
He is well known and loved on the local performance circuit, playing at local pubs, clubs and community festivals.
Eleanor Lear
A local up-and-coming artist who is building up her repertoire. Young and enthusiastic, with a passion for singing, she’ll be welcoming the crowds as they arrive for the event earlier in the day. This is the first of many (we hope) of her appearances at the festival.
Obsidian Cheer and Dance
Professional Cheer and Dance group, they hold regular classes in Bath, Westfield, and Peasedown and offer cheerleading, dance, and tumble classes tailored for every level – from beginners looking for fun to those aiming to complete. Their professional instructors are dedicated to nurturing athletes of all abilities, starting from age 3.
This exceptional group of performers will be wowing the crowds at Peasedown Party in the Park this year – and we can’t wait to have them with us!
Sebastian & Me
Sebastian & Me, comprised of Wayne Meredith, Nick Hoare and Sam Markley, is a dynamic indie rock band that draws inspiration from a rich tapestry of influences, including iconic acts such as Stereophonics, Oasis.
With a sound that seamlessly weaves through the realms of indie rock, their music captures the essence of raw energy. This talented quartet has made waves with their infectious melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Their music resonates with the spirit of legendary bands while infusing a modern flair that keeps audiences hooked. Sebastian and Me have crafted a distinctive sonic identity, embodying the essence of indie rock with a fresh and contemporary perspective.
A significant milestone in the band’s journey was the placement of their single, ‘Typical Boy,’ on the ITV show ‘This Morning’. This achievement not only speaks to the band’s musical prowess but also underscores their ability to create music that captivates a broad audience.
Clayton Denwood Band
Clayton Denwood is a Canadian singer-songwriter and musician with a notable musical career. His music draws from a variety of genres, including blues, folk-rock, and Americana.
Compared to artists like Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, with a ‘Woodstock vibe’, his style incorporates elements of ‘straight-up blues,’ ‘bright folk-rock,’ and ‘brooding, improvisational riffs.’
He has experience performing in various locations, including Woodstock, New York City, Montreal, Toronto, and London and has worked with musicians associated with Bob Dylan, such as Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, and Rick Danko.
Currently based in Bristol and Bath, Clayton has released multiple albums and singles, including: ‘Ain’t a Hope in Heaven’, ‘Sacred Heart Blues’, and ‘Lookin’ For A Road’,
