Mr Saddiq said today: “These are all extraordinary young people, deserving of this honour and I am really looking forward to working with them. They have been given this award because of their exemplary commitment.  It’s a real pleasure to recognise their achievements.”

Cadet Flight Sergeant Ewan Glossop

93 (City of Bath) Squadron, RAF Air Cadets

Cadet Flight Sergeant Ewan Glossop is an outstanding role model within 93 (City of Bath) Squadron.

Ewan brings a wealth of ceremonial experience, currently serving as Squadron Banner Bearer with confidence and precision. They have competed successfully in the Banner Drill Competition and have been a dedicated member of the Wing Drill Team for three years and the Regional Drill Team for two, with their commitment to high standards evident in everything they do.

Ewan is also a key member of the squadron band, now leading as Drum Major. They carry themselves with real presence and maturity, setting the tone for others while maintaining exceptional turnout and discipline.

They give generously of their time to the local community, volunteering at events including the Festival of Motoring, firework marshalling, and the Bath Half Marathon, always representing the RAF Air Cadets with distinction.

As an instructor, Ewan is patient, knowledgeable and supportive of junior cadets, consistently leading by example with an immaculate uniform and a positive, reliable attitude.

Cadet Sergeant Thomas Greaves

Somerset Army Cadet Force

Cadet Sergeant Thomas Greaves became a cadet in 2023 and has shown outstanding commitment ever since, attending an impressive 94 parade nights.

Beyond the unit, he has excelled in Regional Rugby competitions and completed the Junior Cadet Instructor Cadre, showing real leadership potential. He has taken part in a demanding “Paddles Up” Adventurous Training expedition, completing two days of arduous canoeing, and has gained his Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, adding valuable life-saving skills to the unit.

Despite living with a serious peanut allergy, which means careful planning and bringing his own food to weekends and annual camps, Cadet Sergeant Greaves has never let this hold him back. He continues to attend every camp with enthusiasm, resilience, and a smile, setting an example of what can be achieved in the face of personal challenges.

Widely respected by fellow cadets and adult volunteers alike, he consistently goes the extra mile to ensure everyone around him has a good experience.

Cadet Sergeant James Hargreaves

Wellington School Combined Cadet Force

Cadet Sergeant James Hargreaves has built an outstanding record of leadership and service across the cadet forces. Currently a Cadet Sergeant in the Royal Marines Section and Head Drummer of the Corps of Drums at Wellington School, James has spent five years with the Corps of Drums and served across the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Marines sections of the CCF.

His wider cadet service is equally impressive. He has spent two years with the Sea Cadet Corps and three years with the Royal Marines Cadets, holding leadership roles including Acting Corporal, and was selected as a Lord Mayor’s Cadet in 2024 to 2025. He has excelled in drill and leadership competitions at troop, company and national level, and was selected for the National Drill Leadership course at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines.

James has also gained wide-ranging experience through Royal Navy Band Camps, Army Summer Camp, RYA Level 3 Sailing, and offshore voyages on TS Royalist. He has volunteered with junior cadets for four years, supported the Poppy Appeal, and completed his Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards alongside the Ten Tors challenge.

Cadet Lance Corporal Simon Simukaitis

Yeovil Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets

Simon joined the Marine Section of Yeovil Sea Cadets in February 2025 and has quickly established himself as an outstanding and highly valued member of the Corps.

He is kind, considerate, conscientious and dependable, always willing to volunteer and help others in any way he can. His positive attitude and commitment have made him an integral part of the Marine Cadets.

Simon has embraced every opportunity to develop his skills. During the summer boating period, he gained his Rowing Competent Crew qualification and has attended every Easter and Summer Camp since joining, gaining valuable qualifications and experience along the way.

His commitment to his fellow cadets was particularly demonstrated when a team member withdrew from the District Sailing and Rowing Regatta. Simon stepped in at short notice and, despite the circumstances, helped his team achieve an excellent second-place finish.

More recently, Simon completed a gruelling weekend away and successfully passed his promotion board to Lance Corporal, demonstrating resilience, determination and a willingness to challenge himself.

Simon remains calm and patient when faced with difficulties or when things do not go according to plan. He is honest, reliable and loyal, consistently demonstrating the core values of the Sea Cadet Corps.

In a remarkably short time, Simon has shown outstanding personal development, commitment and leadership potential. He leads by example through his actions and attitude and is someone others can rely upon.
