Six consultation dates have been announced for people in Peasedown St John to have their say on possible future housing developments in their village.
The drop-in sessions are part of the new B&NES Local Plan – an official planning framework that guides land use, growth, and development applications across the B&NES district over a 15 to 20-year period.
The Peasedown St John events are being organised by local Independent Councillor, Cllr Karen Walker, who said:
“This could be the most important public consultation in Peasedown St John in decades. Our village has grown substantially over the last 40 years, and so it’s essential that any future housing developments are accompanied by the additional amenities, services and investment that our community so desperately needs.”
In the Local Plan, three sites are being consulted on for Peasedown St John. They are:
- Land to the south of Peasedown: An additional 860 homes next to the A367 by-pass junction with Bath Road
- Land nestled in between Church Road and Hillcrest: An additional 80 homes (a planning application, objected to by Cllr Karen Walker at the time, was refused for homes on this site in 2014)
- The development of the Bath Business Park with additional employment opportunities
The B&NES Local Plan consultation officially started on 17th September and ends on 30th October. Cllr Karen Walker is hosting the following drop-in sessions at Peasedown St John Community Library so residents can have their say on the proposals:
- Saturday 3rd October, 10am – 11am
- Monday 12th October, 1pm – 3pm
- Saturday 17th October, 10am – 1pm
- Monday 19th October, 11am – 1pm
- Wednesday 21st October, 2pm – 4pm
- Saturday 24th October, 10am – 1pm
Peasedown St John Community Library is located at The Hive Community Centre, Bath Road, BA2 8DH.
“There are no live planning applications at present,” added Karen, “but the outline plans could mean another 1,000 homes for Peasedown St John, so it’s essential that local people have their say.”
