A popular primary school headteacher in Peasedown St John has been named as this year’s winner of the Peasedown St John Community Civic Award.
The award is presented to an individual in the village each year who has gone above and beyond to make a difference in other people’s lives, and to serve the wider community.

Founded by local charity, the Peasedown Community Trust, the award honours and recognises the village’s unsung heroes.
Last Friday afternoon at a packed school assembly with children, parents and staff present, Cllr Karen Walker surprised Ruth Noall with the award – naming her as this year’s winner!
B&NES Cllr Karen Walker (Independent, Peasedown St John) said:
“This is such an incredible honour and I’m still processing it! Leading Peasedown St John Primary School over the last 3 and a bit years has been a real privilege, but not without a lot of hardwork and it means a great deal to be recognised for that by our local community; thank you to everyone who voted!”
The Peasedown St John Community Civic Award was created in 2021 as the successor award to the Sara Holley Community Award, which ran from 2011 for 10 years.

Previous winners of the Civic Award are:
2021: Katie Chun – The Hive Community Centre
2022: David and Maureen Byrne – St Joseph’s Catholic Church
2023: Jennifer Calignano – Local Resident
2024: Louise Jones and Tony McKintosh – Police Community Support Officers
2025: Chris Champion – Peasedown St John Parish Council
