A new film has been released this week that promotes and praises interfaith dialogue across Bath & North East Somerset.
Produced by the Bath & North East Somerset Faith Foundation, in partnership with Helena Midgley Films, over a several month period, several organisations across the district took part in the filming.
Faith Foundation Director, Nathan Hartley, said:
“Bath and North East Somerset, and the wider area, is not only a fantastic place to live, work and visit – it’s also a place full of opportunity and religious diversity.
Over the last five years, the Bath & North East Somerset Faith Foundation has worked with, and supported, a range of religious groups.
In this short film, we highlight and showcase some of the fantastic work that religious groups and projects are undertaking in our community.
A huge thank you to Helena Midgley from Helena Midgley Films who we commissioned to work with on the film’s production.”
During a three-month period, Nathan Hartley and Helena Midgely, interviewed and met the following people who are all featured in the film:
- Revd Lorraine Shorten, Weston Free Church (Moravian)
- Representatives from the Sri Gour Kripa Dham Hindu Temple, Glastonbury
- Cllr Karen Walker, Bath & North East Somerset Council
- Revd Dr Katy Garner, Bath Spa University Chaplaincy
- Bogdan Pammer, Family Federation for World Peace and Unification
- Ian Spence and students, University of Bath Chaplaincy
“In a world full of division, we wanted to shed a light on the positive work that religious groups do in our community,” added Nathan, “and the importance of interfaith dialogue, cooperation and community cohesion.
Everyone benefits when we all get a little bit better at listening to each other.”

The Bath and North East Faith Foundation was established several years ago to:
• Support, encourage, and strengthen the work of faith groups across the district.
• Act as a conduit between faith groups and public bodies in ensuring they have a voice and have representation on issues that matter to them.
• Carry out research into socio-religious trends in Bath, Somerset and the wider area.
• Run community engagement projects with faith (and non-faith) groups
• Organise events that promote social inclusion, learning and understanding
