Peasedown Primary School pupils prioritise ‘CARE’ during week of activities

Children at Peasedown St John Primary School have taken a break from their usual timetable to partake in a special week dedicated to ‘CARE’.

Three times a year, the whole school dedicates an entire week to enhanced enrichment activities from sports to exploring the great outdoors, and from reading to school trips, all designed to explore the school’s values of curiosity, aspiration, resilience and empathy.

This Spring’s whole school CARE week had a particular focus on reading, learning life-saving skills and understanding more about British values.

School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said:

“We want to give our pupils as many opportunities as possible to study some fantastic books, learn valuable skills like first aid and understand more about key British values such as individual liberty and tolerance of others.

Creative opportunities like these encourage our pupils to grow, appreciate other people’s backgrounds and to learn more about important people in history like the American civil rights campaigner Martin Luther King Jr.”

The week saw pupils take part in a range of activities from:

–        Attending a First Aid Courses

–        Receiving a visit from Peasedown St John Vicar, Revd Matthew Street

–        Meeting representatives from organisations like Guide Dogs for the Blind

–        Celebrating World Book Day

–        Experiencing a Careers Fayre with community leaders and people from different professions.

“Thank you to all our pupils for taking part in CARE Week,” added Ruth, “Everyone always says how much they enjoy spending so much time learning about vital life skills and exploring the range of opportunities available to them when they leave school one day.”

Peasedown St Primary School is well known locally for its extra-curricular and enrichment activities. The school strives for children to develop as well-rounded, reflective and responsible citizens.
