New Year, new volunteering opportunities in Peasedown St John

Peasedown St John’s Community Library has launched a recruitment campaign to sign-up more volunteers.

The library, which is located in the Hive Community Centre, is part of B&NES Council’s network of community services.

Library Operations Manager, Cllr Karen Walker (Independent, Peasedown) said:

“For a small community library with just 700 books we’re definitely punching above our weight!

Over 200 people used our services last month. Not only is reading enjoyable, but it’s also good for our mental health too. It reduces stress, is therapeutic and keeps our brains active.”

The Library is looking for new Volunteer Librarians who will help with sorting books, collecting books from visitors, and generally offering help to those who use the services. Full training will be given.

Peasedown Community Library is located at The Hive Community Centre, Bath Road, Peasedown St John, BA2 8DH.

Opening hours are:

Mondays, 11 am – 3 pm

Wednesday, 2 pm – 4 pm

Saturdays, 10 am – 1 pm

Peasedown Community Library is part of the Peasedown Community Trust, which runs several projects in the village. Trust Chairman, Cllr Gavin Heathcote (Independent, Peasedown), added:

“Peasedown Library is part of the Libraries West consortium, which means that if you take a book out from us you can return it to any library across the South West of England, and vice versa.

Volunteering with us means you’re part of a huge network of people across the country helping to provide a valuable service to those in our communities.”

Peasedown St John Community Library is funded and maintained thanks to grants secured by the Peasedown Community Trust, who are always looking for new organisations to sponsor the library and the services it runs – helping to keep it open year after year. If your business would like to sponsor the library for a month, or even a year, please get in touch.
